The politician made a commitment to offer 150 electric vehicles for Shatta Wale's Shaxi platform.
The YEA CEO clarified that the electric vehicles were from a private individual, but he has instructed his team to get the vehicles registered first on Shatta Wale's ride-hailing platform.
Shatta Wale founded Shaxi in 2021 with a fleet of branded taxi cabs available for hire via an app.
Shaxi, a portmanteau of 'Shatta' and 'Taxi,' provides affordable transportation and creates employment opportunities for the youth in Ghana.
So far, the business has employed dozens of drivers who earn an income transporting passengers across Ghana.
The YEA CEO first expressed interest in Shatta Wale's Shaxi on May 27 after Shatta Wale shared a post about.
During their meeting on May 30, Malik Basintale expressed his interest in becoming an ambassador for Shatta Wale's Shaxi brand for free.
Shatta Wale's manager speaks about Shaxi's partnership
Ghanaian music executive and media personality, Samuel Atuobi Baah aka Sammy Flex, who doubles as Shatta Wale's manager, was at the meeting with YEA.
Speaking on behalf of the brand, the musician's manager shed more light on YEA's obligations as part of the partnership in a social media post, saying,
"The Youth Employment Agency is set to roll out a strategic partnership with Shatta Wale and his SHAXI to create thousands of jobs for Ghanaian youth.
As part of this collaboration, YEA will support the first 2,000 vehicles that subscribe to the SHAXI platform with GHC500 worth of fuel coupons every month for six months. This bold move is designed to ease the operational cost for drivers and encourage more youth participation in the transport business.
SHAXI vehicles that operate on a 24-hour basis will receive additional incentives. This ensures that at least two young people can be employed per vehicle, working in shifts, and maximising both income and job creation potential."
